42 RASBQ

Dear colleagues,

In 2019, the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Chemical Society (42nd RASBQ) will be held in the city of Joinville-SC in the period of May 27-30 and will bring together the largest community of chemists in Brazil among students, professors and researchers from the area of chemistry and the like all over Brazil and abroad. With nearly 600,000 inhabitants, Joinville will host a RASBQ for the first time and we hope to move the city by disseminating and disseminating the chemistry through the "City of Princes".

The event will be held at the Expoville convention center, with more than 210,000 square meters of total area and about 20,000 square meters of covered area, the largest of its kind in southern Brazil, and is located approximately two kilometers from downtown, where there are many hotels, restaurants, all facilities and 15 minutes from the airport.

This year, the theme of the meeting will be "Mobilizing Axes in Chemistry" and will take us, 15 years after the publication of the first document in Química Nova, to reflect and evaluate on topics such as undergraduate and postgraduate education in Chemistry (CAPES assessment ) and the current model of research funding.

The organizing committee of the 42nd RASBQ, formed by the President, Secretary General, Treasurer, Executive Director and the Directors of the 13 scientific divisions of SBQ, is already working for the event since August and important names of Brazilian and international chemistry have been invited to compose our schedule grid. They are scientists of the highest caliber with lines of research of all the areas and of high impact. The 13 scientific divisions have already indicated the mini-courses that will be offered and the novelty this year will be the realization of multidisciplinary mini-courses involving more than one scientific division. Many workshops have already been defined.

The acceptance of the SBQ community on the choice of the city of Joinville-SC to host the event reflected positively and we are excited to make another successful RASBQ in 2019. Despite the challenges of the moment, we hope to congregate more than two thousand people in a great opportunity of further strengthen the Brazilian chemical community. Entries will commence very soon and abstracts will run until February 10.
