• What happened in hide-and-seek?
  Following his discovery of the body of his wife Alison (Amy Irving) in a bathtub after her apparent suicide, Dr. David Callaway (Robert De Niro), a psychologist, decides to move with his 9-year-old daughter Emily (Dakota Fanning) to upstate New York. There, Emily makes an imaginary friend she calls "Charlie".

  The usual speech goes like this: “One, two, three…twenty. Ready or not, here I come!” It is very important to tradition that the seeker say “Here I come” to let the other players know their time is up. The seeker must close their eyes and often is required to face a wall away from the players.
