Isra' and Mi'raj: What is the story of Isra and Miraj? Isra and Mi'raj, also known as Al Isra' wal Miraj, is observed on the 27th day of the month of Rajab, the seventh month in the Islamic calendar. This event marks the night that Allah (God) took Mohammad (also known as Mohamed or Muhammed) on a journey from Mecca to Jerusalem and then to heaven.


When did Miraj happen? It happened on the night of the 26th of Rajab, the seventh month of the Islamic calendar, in the year 621 ad, which is one year before the Prophet's migration to Medina. How the miraculous journey occurred is a matter of differing opinions among Muslim theologians.


What is the difference between Isra and mairaj? The Miraj was the spiritual journey where the Holy Prophet was shown the heavens, met with previous prophets, and was eventually presented before the royal court of Allah. The Isra is the name of the spiritual journey where the Holy Prophets was taken from Mecca to Jerusalem.


How is Isra and Mi’raj celebrated? For those that choose to do so, Isra and Miraj is marked in various ways. Some Muslims gather at their local mosque for prayers, while others celebrate at home by telling the story of Muhammad’s journey to children and reciting prayers at night. After prayers, food is served.
