Le dernier jour d'un condamné

Le livre est l’histoire d’un homme qui a été condamné a mort et, alors, il se propose d’écrire ce qu’il vit pendant ses dernières semaines de vie. Nous ne savons ni le nom de cet homme ni ce qu’il a fait pour être condamné à mort, mais nous pouvons comprendre et vivre avec cet homme ce que veut dire être condamnés à mort.

Cet homme nous dit tout ce qu’il fait quand il est en prison ; il devient aussi le spectateur de la scène horrible du ferrage des forçats. Puis il pense au moment où il devra aller à la guillottine ; il a peur mais il ne veut pas que les autres le sachent.
The book is the story of a man who has been sentenced to death and then sets out to write about what he experiences during his last weeks of life. We do not know the name of this man or what he did to be sentenced to death, but we can understand and live with this man what it means to be sentenced to death.

This man tells us everything he does when he is in prison; he also becomes the spectator of the horrible scene of the shoeing of the convicts. Then he thinks about when he will have to go to the guillottine; he is afraid but he does not want others to know it.
