The unit Höngen-Saeffelen was created in 2003 by the merger of the formerly independent erase groups Höngen and Saeffelen and is part of the 2nd platoon of volunteer firefighters of the municipality Selfkant in Kreis Heinsberg (NRW) .2001, the two decided erase groups Höngen and Saeffelen, on a voluntary basis as pilot group in Selfkant to draw up the conditions for a merger. Since January 2011, the erasing unit worked every spare minute on interior design of their new common home. Self-organized by the trades insulation, wiring, lighting, heating, plumbing, tile / flooring, ceiling and interior design as well as all kinds of paint work was carried out. 2625 hours came so until 23.07.2011 in own contribution into existence!
The architecturally appealing design of the building is emerging as a real eye-catcher. Since 6 June 2011, the Affiliate Rettungswache is already occupied 24-hour, bringing emergency medical care in Selfkant and Waldfeucht by shortening the journeys experienced a significant improvement.
