Wayang Golek is a traditional Sundanese art of wayang performance made of wooden puppets, which is especially popular in the Tanah Pasundan area. Its distribution area extends from Cirebon in the east to Banten in the west, even in the Central Java area bordering West Java. There are also often Wayang Golek performances. Wayang golek is presented in galur or carangan plays. The story usually comes from folk tales, the Ramayana, or the Mahabharata.

Dadan Sunandar Sunarya is a puppeteer who continues the legacy of wayang golek art from his father, Asep Sunandar Sunarya. As we all know, Asep Sunandar Sunarya is a puppeteer maestro of Wayang Golek who is famous for his wayang character Si Cepot. Dadan Sunandar also followed in his father's footsteps by establishing a puppet art and culture hermitage in Jalekong. He also tried to routinely hold wayang golek performances at his hermitage by presenting different puppeteers. With his hard work, the West Java puppet show continued to flutter and Dadan Sunandar Sunarya was known as the puppeteer of the Wayang Golek like his father.

The Sundanese are an ethnic group originating from the western part of the island of Java, Indonesia, with the term Tatar Pasundan which covers the administrative areas of the provinces of West Java, Banten, Jakarta and the western region of Central Java (Banyumasan).
