Virus Distance Alarm

Social distancing in times of Corona/COVID-19 pandemic easily supported!


Virus Distance Alarm helps you to keep distance to other people wearing bluetooth enabled mobile phones.

If distance is too low, Distance Alarm strongly vibrates and/or plays a speech prompt.


Distance and speech prompt are individually customizable.

Default distance is 1.5 meters, as this is the recommended minimal distance to be fairly safe of a Corona infection.
Default speech prompt is "Please keep 1.5 meters distance".


Restrictions:
- Bluetooth must be turned on on own and other devices.
- Distance is not absolutely accurate due to buetooth technology.
- Bluetooth signal is received even throgh walls, where actually no infection threat exists.
- Bluetooth signal is transmitted by static devices as well, e.g. lamps, TVs, etc., leading to a distance alarm.
- Expect false alarms. However, better safe than sorry, accept one alarm too many.


Recommendations:
- Start your app when expecting to meet other people.
- Keep trying to optimize the app settings for best results. Find out your best alarm distance setting and best speech output. Test your speech output directly.
- Turn off speech prompt or customize properly to not annoy others, rely on vibration tone.
- Use main screen toggle for quick on/off access.
- Adjust distance radius individually to match your phone properties. Try different values for best results.
- Mark devices of accepted people green by clicking on the bell, e.g. devices of familily members of your own household. Those will not alert anymore.
Do not forget to turn them red again in case foreign people wear the device. Marked devices will be remembered even if app is closed and opened again.

Reminder:
- Do not exclusively rely on the app: keep distance as usual !
- The Distance Alert App can only support social distancing !
- Expect false alerts !
- Not only mobile phones have bluetooth turned on. Also TVs, lamps, etc. send a bluetooth signal leading to a distance alert.
