امتدح الله بها نفسه في القرآن الكريم فقال: اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ لَهُ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَى (سورة طه، الآية 8)، وحث عليها الرسول محمد فقال: "إن لله تسعة وتسعين اسما، مائة إلا واحدا، من أحصاها دخل الجنة".
