On the authority of Abdullah bin Omar that the Prophet Muhammad said: “There are no days that are greater in the sight of God and I do not like to work on them than the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, so increase their glorification, takbeer, praise and utterance during them.”
On the authority of Jabir bin Abdullah that the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “There are no days better with God than the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.” He said: A man said: Are they better? Jihad in the cause of God, except for a bad man whose face is dusted in the dust.” The infidel who rubs his face with dust is the one who strives in the cause of God.

Muslims believe that the wages of worship on those days are double that of other days of the year, according to many verses and frequent Prophetic hadiths in this regard. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar says in Al-Fath: What appears that the reason for the privilege of the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah is the place where the mothers of worship gather, which is prayer, fasting, charity and Hajj, and this is not possible in anything else.

And words that Al-Awza’i said – as narrated by Al-Bayhaqi –: It has reached me that an action in the day is as much as a battle in the cause of God, fasting during its day and guarding its night, unless a person is singled out for testimony.
