تعتبر 1984 رواية او رواية ١٩٨٤ إحدى كلاسيكيات الأدب في العالم، فقد قدّمت هذه الرواية(جورج أورويل 1984) صورة المجتمع الشمولي الذي يحكمه الحزب الواحد بطريقة مبدعة ، على مستوى الأدب و الفكر ، ما يحوّل المجتمع الى قطيع يسوقه إلى الأعمال الشاقّة والحياة البائسة ، مجموعة من أعضاء الحزب الذين بدورهم يخضعون لرقابة تحصي عليهم أنفاسهم باسم الدفاع عن الوطن وعن الحزب القائد ، تحولهم الى أشخاص يخضعون لتربية قائمة على الخوف. تصل الى أن الأهل يخافون من أولادهم الذين تحوّلهم التربية التي يشرف عليها الحزب، إلى جواسيس. وأعضاء الحزب يتصرّفون بكل خضوع بعد أن عرفوا مصير كل متمرّد.
لكن في داخل آلة القمع الرهيبة هذه، تستمر التمرّدات. التي تميّز الروح الانسانية التي ترى في الحريّة أسمى قِيَم الانسان. وترى أن الحب أجمل وأعظم من الكراهية، وأن فرادة الانسان هي ما يطلق فيه الإبداع

على مدى سنوات طويلة، ظلت رواية “1984” لجورج أورويل تستعاد، يعود إليها الكتاب(كتاب 1984) الذين يتحدثون عن الديكتاتورية والأنظمة الشمولية. وعلى مدى سنوات طويلة، ظلت هذه الرواية حية وتقرأ بسبب جماليتها الأدبية وبسبب الصورة السياسية التي قدمتها.
