About My Constituency:

Data is key to measure the progress of SDGs. Countries need accurate, reliable and timely data to show where making progress and where are falling behind. Evidence-based data is very crucial for the Members of the Parliament to perform their key functions – enactment of legislation, adaptation of budgets, and their role in ensuring accountability for the effective implementation of SDGs commitments. Taking into account the importance of accurate, reliable and timely data, the first ever constituency-based data platform in Bangladesh has been developed titled ‘My Constituency’.

My Constituency envisions to support the MPs to have better access to evidence-based data to track the development progress of their respective constituency against the Sustainable Development Goals, and national development plans and priorities. It will support MPs to take evidence-based decision and to make inclusive development plan and priorities for their constituencies.

My Constituency is focused on the human development data that MPs need to have from the constituency level in order to be effective advocates to the Government for further development, and to be effective representatives of their constituents, notably as to leaving no-one behind, and to ensure that those most at risk of being left behind have their needs met first.

Objectives:

The main objective of this platform is to support the MPs to track the development progress of their respective constituency, make informed and responsive decisions and identify pocket areas for inclusive development planning to improve the lives of underserved people. The platform also envisions to strengthen interaction with the citizens.


Thematic Areas and Indicators:
For regular progress monitoring, currently the platform has 86 indicators under 10 thematic areas. The selected indicators are aligned with some key policy documents which are SDGs, Five-Year Plan, and National Priority Indicators.
