Seeing a knot of cloth on Bhavi Bijjala's waist, Madivalayya got angry and saw the knot burnt at that moment. Believing this to be Madivalaiah's 'conceit', Bijjala sent a force of lame-blind men to capture him. By his power, Madivalaiah gave sight to the blind and legs to the lame. Infuriated by this, Bijja let the 'drunken' elephant run over Machaiah. A detachment of soldiers was also sent. Jay Shaliya beat the elephant and all of them. In course of time Bijjala came to know the high glory of Machidev and realized his mistake and surrendered. Madiwala Machideva's Jayanti is celebrated on February 1 across the state.
