Maserati, in complete Maserati Spa, formerly known as Officine Alfieri Maserati S.A., is an Italian carmaker known for its race, sports, and GT (grand touring) cars. Maserati is headquartered in Modena, Italy, and is known for racing, sports, and GT cars. Maserati was founded in 1914 by four brothers in Modena, Italy, and was purchased by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) in 1993. In 1914, Maserati was founded by his brothers, Alfieri, Ettore, and Ernesto Maserati, in Bologna, Italy. Alfieri Maserati drove racing cars for other manufacturers before settling with his own company to manufacture Maserati's first automobile, a racing car named Tipo 26, after the year it debuted. The A6 1500 was named for Alfieri Maserati, as well as the cylinder count on the engine. On 6 May 2014, Italian automakers confirmed the production of Levante SUVs and Alfieri.
