Alhamdulillah, thanks be to Allah SWT, finally we PonPon Media have successfully completed the application of Al Hikam and Translation. Kitab Al-Hikam is a book of Sufism by Sheikh Ahmad Ibn Muhammad Ibn Atha'illah As-Sakandari (Ibn Athaillah as-Sakandari), who was very popular. Sheikh Ahmad Ibn Muhammad Ibn Abdul Karim Ibn Atha'illah al-Jadzami al-Maliki as-Sakandari, or more popularly as Shaykh Ibn Atha'illah as-Sakandari was born in Alexandria or Alexandria (Egypt) in 648 H/1250 AD, and died in Cairo (Egypt) in 1309 AD.

He lived in Egypt during the Mamluk dynasty. Since childhood, Ibn Atha'illah was known to love to learn. He gradually learned from several sheikhs. In the field of fiqh, he adheres to and controls the Maliki school of thought. While in the field of Sufism he is a follower and leader of the al-Syadzili tarekat. He is widely known as the third "master" (grand sheikh) in the Syadziliyah Sufi order.

Apart from being famous as a master of Syadziliyah (Sufism), Ibn Atha'illah is also known as a great faqih (jurist) in the Maliki school. Despite his young age, he was able to explain the fiqh issues that were asked of him. Ibn Atha'illah is of the view that outside of Shari'a law, there is nothing more to look for. Because of this strong view, many people then dialogue with him to get an explanation of what he means.

Ibn Atha'illah is a prolific scholar. No less than 20 written works that he has produced, covering the fields of Sufism, interpretation, hadith, creed, nahwu and fiqh proposals. But the most famous is the Kitab Al-Hikam. The book Kitab Al Hikam is touted as his magnum opus. This book has been discussed several times, including by Muhammad bin Ibrahim Ibn 'Ibad ar-Rundi, Sheikh Ahmad Zarruq, and Ahmad Ibn Ajiba.

Apart from Al-Hikam, other books he wrote are Al-Tanwir fi Isqath al-Tadbi fi at-Tasawwuf, 'Unwaan al-Taufiq fi 'adab al-Thariq, Miftah al-Falah wa Misbah al- The spirits of fi dhikrullah al-Karim al-Fattah, Al-Muraqqu ila al-Qadir al-Abqa', and Al-Qaul al-Mujarrad fi al-Ism al-Mufrad. The latter is a response to the opinions of Shaykhul Islam Ibn Taimiyah regarding monotheism.

Al-Hikam is a book intended for travelers (salik), which contains further guidance for every traveler to take a spiritual journey. Al-Hikam contains various strict mystic terminology, which refers to various terms in the Qur'an. Shaykh Ibn Atha'illah presents Kitab Al-Hikam with the main support on the Al-Quran and As-Sunnah.

Ibn 'Atha'illah's books are widely read by Muslims from various groups, across schools and orders, especially the legendary book of Al-Hikam. Kitab Al-Hikam was very popular in the Islamic world for centuries, until today. This book is also the main reading in almost all Islamic boarding schools in the archipelago.
