Cooperativa los Tajos: thirty years of experience
Cooperativa Los Tajos de Alhama de Granada begins its journey in 1979.
A group of sixteen farmers join the need to market chickpeas, an essential product in these years. They start by renting a ship, buying a sorting machine and a vegetable packing machine. A year later the complex where the rented ship was located was bought, which had several ships, courtyards, house and an oil mill.
When purchasing these facilities, the Cooperative is created with several sections: legumes, cereals, oil mill and services.
With a lot of determination and courage and bypassing a thousand difficulties, the Cooperative begins to roll: the oil mill begins to be remodeled, changing the stones, mixers and the loading of the covers by hand, by hammer mills and automatic loaders. The oil packer is registered.
Cooperativa Los Tajos absorbs Cooperativa La Esperanza created in the sixties and merges. In this way a more reinforced and larger cooperative begins. From then on, at various times SEMPA silos are rented, four new silos are built, an olive cleaning line is purchased, the first system continued for oil extraction and many other material and social improvements.
 
The set of facilities is wide, but located in three different areas, which causes discomfort and higher expenses, so that in 2004 a new spacious location begins to be managed, outside the urban area and in accordance with current regulations.
After a long process of meetings, negotiations and agreements, the construction of the new facilities begins on the grounds of the Lazarico Mill, an old oil mill, located 1.70 km from Alhama de Granada, Ctra. De Loja s / n.
This complex is inaugurated in 2006 with an area of ​​20,000 m² with the following services:
