With the Independence Day approaching this coming month, the nation couldn’t be more excited. It’s kind of an unsaid tradition, to drag every national holiday for at least a fortnight. August is a month of joy and pride for all Pakistanis. Music has always been a way to find solace, wherever you are. It’s the same for us Pakistanis. Independence Day, observed annually on 14 August, is a national holiday in Pakistan. It commemorates the day when Pakistan achieved independence and was declared a sovereign state following the end of the British Raj in 1947. Pakistan came into existence as a result of the Pakistan Movement, which aimed for the creation of an independent Muslim state in the north-western regions of British India via partition. The movement was led by the All-India Muslim League under the leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

This one’s more like a nursery rhyme we have all grown up listening to. It has a special tune which makes us nostalgic about the golden days of the past. It’s one of the most famous patriotic anthems and was released during the Pak-Indo war of 1965.

4.Watan Ki Mitti
A beautiful song by the great Nayyara Noor, this anthem has made a home in our hearts. The soulful lyrics takes our patriotism and loyalty to our motherland to another zone.

5.Yai Watan Tumhara Hai
It was sung by the legendary Mehdi Hassan; it received immense love from each and every Pakistani ever since it’s release in the 1962. It’s amazing how it’s still in our hearts, generation by generation after all this time!

This song is a proof that Pakistan holds great importance not only for Muslims but for other minorities living in the country. It was sung by Benjamin Sisters (Nerissa, Beena and Shabana), often referred to as s phenomenon in Pakistan and North India.

Sung by Amjad Hussain, this song makes every citizen of this country feel like they actually do own this land. Which they must feel every moment of every day- because we can’t completely take care of this country if we aren’t owning it yet.

If there’s any song we could use as our country’s national anthem, this one’s it. The unofficial anthem of Pakistan- this magic was created by Vital Signs all the way back in 1987. It is Vital Sign’s most famous song; one which make us love t even more. Known to every Pakistani, child or not.

9.Lab Pai Aati Hai
Even though the visionary Allama Iqbal wrote countless masterpieces, this beautiful poetic prayer is the most loved and remembered work of him. Known by all children by heart.
