The classifier is a hierarchical three-stage classification with a digital alphabet of the code of classification groups and has the following structure: XX.YYY.ZZ, where XX is a section, YYY is a group, ZZ is a subgroup. At the first stage (section), the subject areas of standardization are classified, with further division at the second and third stages of classification (group, subgroup). The section is classified by a two-digit numeric code. The group code consists of a domain code and a three-digit group digital code, separated by a dot.

The subgroup code consists of the group code and its own two-digit code, separated by a dot, for example:

31 Electronics;
31.060 Capacitors;
31.060.70 Power Capacitors.
