يعد عيد الأم من أهم المناسبات التي يحتفل بها الناس في أنحاء العالم سنويًا، ويعبرون فيه عن حبهم لأمهاتهم بالهدايا والورد وبطاقات المعايدة، وذلك محاولة منهم لإسعادها وتكريمها وشكرها لما بذلته في سنوات حياتها في سبيل راحة أبنائها وسعادتهم، واتسعت رقعة المحتفلين بعيد الأم حتى صار يحتفل به في العديد من الأيام وفي شتى مدن العالم.
