Jurumiyah Dan Penjelasannya

Alhamdulillah, thanks be to Allah, finally PonPon Media has successfully completed the Jurumiyah application and its explanation. Al-Ajurrumiyah or Jurumiyah (Arabic: الآجُرُّومِيَّة‎) is a small book on Arabic grammar from the 7th century AH/13 AD. This book was compiled by a linguist from Morocco named Abu Abdillah Sidi Muhammad bin Daud Ash-Shanhaji alias Ibn Ajurrum (d. 1324 AD).

The basic formulas for classical Arabic lessons are written in rhyming form to make it easier to memorize. In Arab society this book is one of the earliest books to be memorized besides the Qur'an. Among traditional pesantren, the Kitab Matan al-Ajurrumiyyah is a very well-known textbook on the science of nahwu (Arabic grammar).

Almost every santri who studies at traditional Islamic boarding schools start learning Arabic through this book. This book is a standard book which is the basis of Arabic lessons. In practice in the world of Islamic boarding schools, the book is often referred to as Jurrumiyyah. The naming is not exactly the same as the original name of the book, because the full title of the book is Al-Muqaddimah al-Ajurrumiyyah fi Mabadi' Ilm al-Arabiyyah.

Although Al-Ajurrumiyyah is very well known among the pesantren, the author of the book himself is not well known among the pesantren. This is because in practice in pesantren, students are often only presented with the lessons contained in the book being studied. Santri are rarely introduced by the kyai or ustaz to the author of the book they are studying.

This is also natural because the kyai or the ustaz himself does not necessarily know who the author of the book is. As the name implies, al-Ajurrumiyyah is indeed a muqaddimah (introduction) book on the science of nahwu written by Ibn Ajurrum while in Mecca. The content is very simple and basic. For this reason, this book also needs to be given a more in-depth explanation when a student wants to learn more about nahwu.

For that reason, this book was finally given explanations by many scholars, up to thirty books of explanation. These explanations were later made into one book with al-Ajurrumiyyah. In Arabic literature, books that contain an explanation of another book are called syarah books.

In addition to being given an explanation or review, the book of Al-Ajurrumiyyah is also summarized by other scholars into a stanza (nazham). No less than four books that contain strands of stanzas sourced from this al-Ajurrumiyyah book. The most famous stanza book is the one written by Muhammad bin Abi al-Ghalawi or known as Ubaid Rabbih.
