The story revolves around Elinor and Marianne, the two daughters of Mr. Dashwood from his second wife. They have a younger sister named Margaret, and an older half-brother named John. When the father passed away, the family's property passed to John. The women of the Dashwood family remained in disrepair. The story tells of the lives of the Dashwood daughters in their new home in a remote cottage. Where they experience romance and heartbreak. The irony between each sister’s personality and the other ends at the end, where they find lasting love and happiness. Through the events of the novel, Elinor and Marianne strike a balance between reason (or logic) and emotion in life and love.
