Meteo Allerta

The application Weather Alert was developed by ETT SpA and GisWeb srl as part of the META - Flash Floods Weather Forecast and Analysis. The project was funded by the Liguria Region through POR CRO (2007-2013) Action 1.2.2 "Industrial research and experimental development for enterprises of the Ligurian District for Marine Technology»
 
The app is the front end of a complex system composed of
· Mobile Application: Interface System META to the end user is made up of an app through which the user can check the weather situation and alert the territory and actively participate by reporting possible situations of risk through an appropriate functionality
· Cartographic Service: system for the management of geospatial data and the publication of standard web services can provide backgrounds cartographic and georeferenced information conveyed by the Application Mobile
· Search engine semantic software that analyzing web pages of newspapers and websites institutional processes its text by extracting information regarding risk situations past and present. This information is input to the mapping service for updating risk maps.
 
The complete system integrates various data sources such as:
· Information on the conditions of the sea acquired by buoys / stations placed near the Ligurian coast that monitor various environmental parameters including those useful for the project are the water temperature, sea level and the information relating to the winds (speed and direction).
· Maps of risk to public and by the Civil Defence to report to municipalities and citizens the potential risk situations. In these maps are integrated information from different regional offices and can be composed of several themes (areas in danger of landslides, flood bands of watershed plans, dams and reservoirs, flood-prone areas, etc ...)
· Reports from the semantic search engine, which are automatically extracted from the network.
· Messages sent by users via the mobile application.
 
The result of such input is displayed to the user using the mobile application that identified the user's location, it shows the information of updated risk in the neighborhood of his position. The user can choose to display different types of maps, or see the various information is superimposed on the map and in text form by clicking on a specific location or event. From a special menu you can access the section of reports for viewing and sending a new message. The server receives the information, the 'decoding' and, after an audit of the fairness and accuracy, the map in the mapping system therefore making it visible to all users.
