Perugia InApp

Promote the territory and the splendid cultural and landscape attractions through ICT, 4.0 technologies and Augmented Reality (AR). This is the goal of the "Perugia InApp" project (the version published here is continuously developing and implementing both the routes and the functionalities) which aims to enrich the tourist experience of visiting by using an AR application with a more immersive and engaging impact, creating at the same time new urban and extra-urban itineraries that combine places, cultural and historical artistic heritage, intangible and landscape heritage.
Perugia InApp is an application for Ios / Android devices for the use of monuments and the territory with a high capacity for interaction with the user (augmented reality, geolocation, map of itineraries, navigator, use of bluetooth for indoor tourist routes). The great novelty of this system is the possibility for the visitor to download a single APP that manages guided tours, city tours and outdoor experiences at the same time, based on an open data system. The APP also allows you to carry out visiting experiences both online and offline, without the need to use the network continuously, manage outdoor and indoor itineraries thanks to the integration of the various telephone sensors, with the possibility of very high spatial resolution, manage multi-thematic information and different events.
Perugia InApp allows you to have an interactive guide of the territory, of the paths, of cycle paths and of the main monuments in the Perugia area. Moreover, thanks to the AR systems and the ibeacon sensor networks, it allows the visit of over 200 points of interest and 11 tourist itineraries.
During your visit, the APP will detect the GPS points outside or the ibeacon sensors present in the indoor routes, which will automatically activate the audio guide and open the reference descriptive cards. Visitors both inside and outside the sites will also be able to take advantage of Augmented Reality, by pointing the camera of the device at the monument and artistic artifacts: in this way it will be possible to observe reconstructions and additional information directly through the camera.
What Perugia InApp does for you:
Perugia InApp allows you to visit the area safely and independently, with a single app you can manage your visit without having to continuously download applications in every place you frequent.
After downloading the App, select your language and wait for the multimedia contents to load (it will last 1-2 minutes): thanks to this wait, the system will retrieve all the visiting elements of a 450 square kilometer territory even without a network connection.
Perugia InApp is an application that uses the functions of GPS, Augmented Reality and Bluetooth to give tourists a unique and engaging experience of visiting the cultural and natural heritage of the Perugia area.
When you start, the guide presentation screen will open, where you will also find the tutorial and credits.
To access the automatic visit system, just click on "START A NEW EXPERIENCE" from the home screen: the application will enter search mode and start searching for nearby points of interest.
If a marked point of interest or cultural property is nearby, then the app will automatically activate the audio guide of that point and allow consultation of the monument card in touchless mode. Similarly if you visit an indoor museum itinerary.
Below is the control panel. To consult the cards of cultural attractors just touch the MENU button. The other buttons activate the INCREASED CRIME (AR), allow you to access the MAP screen and allow you to return the user to the INFO panel.
