He is the Tabi’i, Al-Hassan bin Abi Al-Hassan, Yasar Al-Basri. He was born in the twenty-first year of the Hijrah. According to the sayings about his mother’s lineage, she was a slave of Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. Al-Hasan Al-Basri was raised in the custody of one of the mothers of the believers - may God be pleased with her. He grew up in Umm al-Qura, then returned to Medina, where he spent his youth and boyhood, drawing from the help and knowledge of the honorable Companions.

Then he emerged in the science of jurisprudence, doctrine, readings, hadith, interpretation and many other legitimate sciences, and settled in Basra, teaching people in its mosque the sciences of the Islamic religion for fifty years, until his mention was accompanied by asceticism and preaching, as they were two attributes that accompanies him throughout his life.

Imam al-Hasan al-Basri received several titles, among which the Muhaddith Shams al-Din al-Dhahabi mentioned two, namely: “Imam Sheikh al-Islam Abu Saeed al-Basri” and “Ras al-Tabaqa al-Tabi’in.” As for Ibn al-Imad al-Hanbali, the author of the Book of Shuffles of Gold, he mentioned one of his titles, which is “Imam.” People of Basra.” This is the well-known nickname for him to this day, and he compiled the Qur’an at the age of fourteen.
