The "Park Safe" application fits into the innovative management methods of the so-called Smart city. Over the next 20 years, approximately 70% of the population will live in cities where the highest deficit will be in high green areas. Due to their physical characteristics (tree height, biomass of the trunk and branches and branches, etc.), trees can pose a threat to people and property (e.g. parked cars, buildings, energy infrastructure and others). Advantages of using the "Park Safe" application by municipal services consists in the mass use of the application and quick access to messages and current versions of hazard zone maps. The application allows communication with residents as well as the use of their initiative in updating collected data and acquiring new (crowdsourcing).
The direct effects of using the application are increasing the safety of people staying in the area of: parks and city forests, cemeteries or even moving in communication routes near which there are trees. The application by alerting the user about the zones of danger of falling trees allows you to assess the risk and change any navigation (movement) or planning a stay in high green areas. The application also allows you to reduce the risk of damage to property (e.g. cars) by parking them in the potential range of a tree fall. The benefits of the application also include users reporting damage in the stand caused by wind or snow and entering this information directly into the database. The information can be used by municipal services, fire brigade or insurers.
Increasingly, city dwellers want to actively participate in the decision making of direct actions implemented by the city's green managers, undertaking independent initiatives regarding proposals for changes in the environment. Thanks to the "Park Safe" application, every user will be able to report their attention or opinion via smartphone with GPS location.
The innovation of the application consists in the integration of modern geoinformation technologies in order to achieve a higher level of security for people and urban infrastructure. The advantage over traditional studies lies in the very high detail of the 3D data used, their geometric precision and fast spatial GIS analyzes. The use of the GNSS system for navigation in areas of danger allows in crisis situations (e.g. severe storms and storms) to choose the least endangered routes of movement or even escape (evacuation) from areas with high greenery.
The user in the mobile application will use the map of danger zones from trees and will receive automatic notifications of movement between zones (alerts).
The "Safe Park" mobile application will also allow you to submit any comments regarding the collected data. In a situation when the user notices, e.g. a broken hanging tree branch, he will be able to make a notification in the application by pointing to the appropriate tree on the map and adding predefined alerts.
