Maymun Çiçegi (Monkeypox)

Monkeypox virus is a rare and zoonotic viral disease (the virus is transmitted from animals to humans) and the symptoms of infection in humans are similar to those experienced by smallpox patients in the past, but less severe. Although smallpox was eradicated in 1980, monkeypox still occurs sporadically in parts of Africa.
Monkeypox virus belongs to the Orthopoxvirus genus of the Poxvirus family.
