Law 2977.6 promulgated on January 23, 1915, collected and ordered the holidays celebrated in Chile; This prescribed the observance of the following holidays:

All sundays of year.
January 1 (New Year), June 29 (Saint Peter and Paul), August 15 (Assumption of the Virgin), December 8 (Immaculate Conception of the Virgin), December 25 (Christmas) and movable holidays Ascension of the Lord and Corpus Christi.
On Friday and Saturday of Easter.
September 18, creation of the First National Government Junta in 1810.
September 19 and May 21, in celebration of the Glories of the Army and the Navy.
The day of election of electors of the President of the Republic.
It should be noted that the same law eliminated, by omission, other religious holidays observed up to that time: Adoration of the Holy Kings (January 6), Carnival (mobile), Annunciation of the Lord (March 25) and Nativity of the Virgin (8 of September); it also reduced the national holidays to only two days (until 1914, they had been celebrated from September 18 to 20).

Law 3810.7 promulgated on November 24, 1921, established the holiday of the Anniversary of the Discovery of America on October 12.

Decree with force of law 178 of 1931 of the Ministry of the Interior,8 promulgated on May 13 of that year, established Labor Day as a permanent holiday (May 1, 1931 had already been a singular holiday for the same reason, as established by decree with force of law 130 of 1931 of the Ministry of the Interior9​).

In 1932, decree law 63610 restored the holiday of September 20, which remained in force until 1944.11
