Plants need sunlight for photosynthesis. But too little sun isn't great and too much sunlight will heat-stress your plants. Wouldn't it be nice if you knew how much light your plants are getting without having to buy expensive light meters?

Your phone is equipped with a light sensor that can give you lux readings. A Lux is a unit of measurement for illuminance, it measures the amount of lumens per square meter. It doesn't measure PAR-levels or color temperature or any other fancy metrics, but it simply tells you the lux levels of where ever you are using the app.
