Michael Joseph Jackson (born in Gary, Indiana, USA, August 29, 1958 - died in Los Angeles, California, United States, June 25, 2009 at the age of 50) is a singer and songwriter from the United States. He is famous as the "King of Pop" and popularized the "Moonwalk" Dance which has become his trademark.

MJ displayed his musical talent at a young age when he sang in front of his classmates at the Christmas recital at the age of five. In 1964, MJ and Marlon joined the Jackson Brothers was a band founded by his brothers: Jackie, Tito, and Jermaine.

In 1982, Epic released MJ's second album, Thriller. The appearance of this album is considered the peak of MJ's career. This second album survived on the top 10 of the Billboard 200 for 80 consecutive weeks. Seven songs from this album are simultaneously included in the top ten Billboard Hot-100, three of which are "Billie Jean," "Beat It," and "Want to Be Startin 'Somethin'."

On March 25, 1983, MJ appeared live on the special television show Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever. It was at this event that he first performed his famous dance movement, the moonwalk.
