In addition to the traditional decorative elements in the interior, the sarcophagi of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Cihan are located on the upper floor in the main room, and the main coffins are located on the lower floor. The staircase leading to the lower tomb from the southern entrance of the room is covered with a tapered barrel and is not accessible to visitors. There is no decoration on the ceiling of the rectangular space, which is entirely made of marble. The two tombs in the middle of the room are similar to each other but decorated with different motifs.
