In social studies, a political ideology is a certain set of ethical ideals, principles, doctrines, myths, or symbols of a social movement, institution, class, or large group that explains how society should work and offers some political and cultural blueprint for a certain social order.

Political science is a social science which deals with systems of governance, and the analysis of political activities, political thoughts, and political behavior. Comparative politics is the science of comparison and teaching of different types of constitutions, political actors, legislature, and associated fields, all of them from an intrastate perspective. Political theory is more concerned with the contributions of various classical and contemporary thinkers and philosophers.

The modern thinkers have brought all such activities under the scope of political science which is concerned with power, influence authority, shaping and sharing of power, etc and with all this, the scope of political science has become quite vast. Today all the political activities, from individuals up to the world have become the subject matter of political science.
