• What is the game of billiards?
  billiards, any of various games played on a rectangular table with a designated number of small balls and a long stick called a cue. The table and the cushioned rail bordering the table are topped with a feltlike tight-fitting cloth. Carom, or French, billiards is played with three balls on a table that has no pockets.
• What are the two main varieties of billiard games?
  There are two main varieties of billiard games: carom and pocket. The main carom billiards games are straight rail, balkline and three cushion billiards. All are played on a pocketless table with three balls; two cue balls and one object ball.
• Are pool and billiards the same game?
  In its original use, billiards refers to any type of cue sport, including carom billiards, pool, and snooker. On the other hand, pool specifically refers to a game played on a pool table. Traditionally, billiards tables do not have pockets.
• What is the big pool table game called?
  Snooker uses a table that has six pockets, but the table is generally larger than pool tables. However, the pockets of the snooker table, though, are smaller. You need 15 balls to play snooker.
