McCoy College was established in 2014 to train teachers for basic schools in response to a social audit which was conducted by the Catholic Diocese of Wa in 2011 to assess the physical and financial gaps between needs and resources available for local development in the area of education. The vision of the college is to provide Quality Catholic Education for Transformational Leadership.

McCoy College of Education is affiliated to University for Development Studies.
