Es un medio de comunicación abierto a la comunidad, característica que la convierte en un espacio de expresión para nuestro pueblo. Pertenece a todos: a las instituciones educativas, sociales, culturales y deportivas. Es una herramienta fundamental para lograr la integración, la pluralidad de voces y la participación de nuestros alumnos.

Por ser una radio socioeducativa responde al gusto de las mayorías sin considerarlas como masa; su forma de comunicar es original, optimista y creativa, sin caer en el banal entretenimiento. Se informa verazmente. En sus programas se debaten todas las ideas y se respetan todas las opiniones, influyendo en la opinión pública para crear consensos que democraticen los medios. Se estimula la diversidad cultural y la no homogeneización mercantil, es decir, todas las manifestaciones culturales no sometidas a los valores del mercado y la moda. En este espacio no se tolera ninguna dictadura, ni siquiera la musical impuesta por las compañías discográficas; no se busca el lucro sino el servicio a la sociedad mediante un proyecto alternativo, educativo y movilizador; se entiende al oyente como un fin y no como un medio y se trabaja para incentivar la imaginación y acercar una propuesta de enseñanza a los oyentes. Quienes se desempeñan en este medio lo hacen como un colectivo de trabajo, que intenta modificar la realidad de su entorno y se solidariza con otras emisoras y organismos de las mismas características.
