The Quran or the Holy Quran is the main holy book in Islam. Muslims believe that it was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to tell the truth, and that it is the word of Allaah that has reached mankind without interruption. [1] He worships Allah by reciting it. The Qur'an is considered to be the heavenly book after the Torah and the Bible, and the richest oratory in Arabic. The Qur'an consists of 114 suras, divided into Meccan and Medinan, depending on the place and time of revelation.

Muslims believe that the Qur'an was revealed by Allah through the angel Gabriel for 23 years, from the age of 40 until his death (632/11). Muslims also believe that the Qur'an was preserved by the Companions, that its verses were clear and narrated, and that it was sent as a sermon to all mankind throughout the ages.

The Qur'an consists of 114 parts of different lengths, called "suras". Their order has nothing to do with the history of the revelation - earlier suras may have appeared at the end of the Qur'an. In turn, these suras are divided into Meccan suras and Medina suras, depending on the time of their arrival. The surahs of Mecca are the surahs revealed before the migration of the Prophet Muhammad, and the surahs of Medina are the surahs that were revealed after his migration to Madinah.

In terms of length, scientists divide the suras into several types. They:

Seven long suras. These include Surat al-Baqara, Surat al-Imran, Surat al-Nisa, Surat al-Ma'ida, Surat al-Angam, Surat al-A'raf and Surat at-Tawba.
Two hundred verses. Surahs with more than two hundred verses.
Christian. Other suras less than two hundred verses.
With the exception of Surat at-Tawba, all suras of the Qur'an begin with the word "basmala," meaning "Bismi-Allah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim." Scholars have various explanations as to why Surat at-Tawba did not begin with publication. Some believe that the warning against the hypocrites in this surah was unpublished, because the Arab people did not publish it when they sent a letter to break the agreement between the tribes. According to others, the word basmala appears 114 times in the Qur'an (there are two editions in Surat an-Naml: the beginning and the middle as the words of the Prophet Solomon), so their number is not mentioned in Surat at-Tawba to match the number of suras.
