The diphthong, which is the encounter or meeting of two and, sometimes, three vowels, which are pronounced in a single voice, that is, when they meet, they cannot be separated (they form a single syllable). 💡

Important: To understand what the diphthong means, it is necessary to take into account that vowels are classified as open (a, e, o) and closed (i, u).

There are two kinds of diphthongs:

1. The open and closed vowel diphthong or vice versa (AC or CA), where the force or the accent goes on the open vowel. This occurs, as long as the accent of the word goes where those two vowels are together. If the force of the word goes in a different syllable than the one where these vowels are found, it will still be a diphthong. This diphthong depends on the word classification rules.
